1st one courtesy of psychedeliscope
2nd one from the first post of the thread

http://rapidshare.com/files/188402211/g ... x-1968.rar

Jerry Garcia, Elvin Bishop, Harvey Mandel, Mickey Hart & Stephen Miller - The Matrix, San Francisco, California, December 24th 1968, SBD (?), longer version, correct speed, reel to reel source.

Disc One :

1. Jam (fades in)
2. You Got To Feel It

Disc Two:

1. 3 O Clock In The Morning (around m. 5:26 sound fades out for half second)
2. She's A Mojo Worker
3. Jam (cut)

It sounds as a soundboard to me, not sure, by the way really good recording, typical Matrix recording
with some light hiss and 1 channel lower.

I uploaded this some months ago from a cassette source. Here what you have in this improved version :

1. reel to reel source and lower generation.
2. longer version, with the final jam, so you have around 20 minutes more.
3. speed is correct here, because the cassette version was going faster.
4. sound quality is similar, i don't know what's better.

1st generation reel to reel > behringer ultra curve pro deq 2496 audio equalizer > tascam audio cdrw750 > plex tool professional XL > wav > flac.

Transfered, remastered & uploaded by 38f on Dime 2006.

01. Jam
02. Jam cont.
03. We got the feeling Jesus
04. Thinkin' bout you
05. She's a motor worker
06. Jam

* Tracks 1 & 2 are actually 1 track broken into two parts so as not to have to post a 200+ meg file.

and here's another one he dug up

http://www.sendspace.com/file/4ide91

Not much info on that one. Got it in a tape trade many years ago. The cover says: Garcia, Hart, Casady, Dryden Ð Jefferson Airplane House, San Francisco, 10-21-1968. Deadbase confirms this date and the musician's names.
What you get to hear is various jams, in fact that whole thing is just one long instrumental jam... and pretty good in places it is! A perfect example of great San Francisco Rock jamming of some of the best musicians around!
It seems that copies of this tape are not very common in dead circles, so I deceided to post it here. Enjoy!

Jam 1 (31.03)
Jam 2 (13.48)
Jam 3 (20.21) (probably continuation of Jam 2 after a tape switch)

Jam 4 (14.40)
Jam 5: 3/5 of a Mile in 10 Seconds Jam (9.38)
Jam 6: Dark Star Jam (32.20)
Jam 7: Blues Jam (12.37)

I'm not sure who exactly plays on which track or if everybody plays all the time... We'll probably never know. (Not sure for example if Jerry plays on track 4 or 7 - sounds very much like Jorma and maybe Jorma only.)

Jam 5 has traces of 3/5 of a Mile in 19 Seconds; Jam 6 has at least in the beginning traces of Dark Star and Jam 7 is a relatively straight forward blues number, not uncommon as a typical Jorma/Jack blues routine number in a regular Jefferson Airplane set and a foretaste of HOT TUNA.

Though this probably was a soundboard or an excellent audience recording (yes, there is some kind of audience - listen to the handclapping!), tape exchange over the years was not kind to the overall sound quality.
There was quite a lot of tape hiss on the tape, and I decided to do some noise/hiss reduction and some slight editing (cuts were removed, some fade-outs), though I tried not to change the sound too much. So there STILL is some tape hiss... and the sound quality now surely is not excellent, but the whole thing is quite listenable, I think.

any of the tracks. - Charles Cicirella

Eric Clapton:
"I just did some film music for a tv documentary about the beginning of the Second World War, because it's the fiftieth year of the Munich Agreement with Hitler and Chamberlain, and a Czechoslavakian company asked me to do the music and I was a bit lost when I first thought about it...And when I saw the footage , which is archive black and white material, I just wrote a very simple kind of blues progression and got some string players in and set it to a kind of philharmonic setting and it still works, which is an example of the fact that I always think from a blues point of view and try to frame it in different ways to make it palatable."

This must be most of 2009 Jazz Fest right here... it's WWOZ recordings so it's probably all 128kbps at best, and each show is just one big mp3 file so no track info, song names, etc... But still, no fucking complaints here!!

btw, megaupload rules sendspace's face: each of these came in at between 500kbps and 3 mbps :

15.Down In a Hole (Seattle WA 27th July 2007)
16.I See Monsters (Louisville, KT 11th July 2007)
17.My Winding Wheel (Manchester, UK 8th June 2007)

Notes

This compiliation was originally put together as part of a personal momento of Ryan's extensive touring during 2007 but ended being shared because I was pleased with the way it turned out and thought other folks might like to listen to it. I hope you do.

During the first half of the year, with a notable exception in Chicago in January, the band played mainly stripped down acoustic shows promoting 'Easy Tiger' whilst dipping generously into Ryan's huge back catalogue. For many of the early gigs a skateboarding accident had prevented Ryan from playing any instruments, fortunately the Cardinals (joined for this tour by producer of Easy Tiger Jamie Candiloro on keys) filled any gaps.

Included here are, in my opinion, the best recordings of the best performances of the best songs (available at the time) for me personally. I decided to leave out any between song chat/banter as, though often quite funny, it loses its appeal shortly after the first listen unlike the music.

Ryan Adams fans are a lucky bunch - not only by the quality and quantitiy of records he releases, nor by his constant touring; but also because high quality recordings of almost every show he plays are made available on the internet - free of charge - often within days of the performance (sometimes sooner) by many of his fans.

I haven't done much to the recordings apart from mix them together to give the impression (mostly) that it is one show or set. I've boosted the volume on a few songs and added some bass to enable them to stand alongside the other recordings but that's all.

You can get details of who taped and how at http://www.archive.org and http://www.ryanadamsarchive.com where you'll find recordings of the the full shows (and many more besides).

If you enjoy this then look out for 'Out of the Red Cave' a companion disc of the best of the full electric rock shows the band played in the second half of 2007.

Enjoy.

14.Oh My Sweet Carolina (Ann Arbour MI 22nd September 2007)
15.Easy Plateau (Melbourne 20th August 2007)

Notes

This compilation is intended as a companion disc to another I made (Into the Blue Cave) as a balls out rocking contrast to that disc's relaxed acoustic performances from the band's extensive touring during 2007.

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals are probably one of the best live bands around at the moment and I've tried to include songs here that capture the tightness of the band. Getting songs from the vast archive of band recordings that are freely available on the web down to a single disc was not easy and has meant leaving lots of favourutes off as well as steering clear of many of the extended jams the band journeyed into during many shows (well maybe a couple have sneaked in here).

I haven't done much to the recordings apart from mix them together to give the impression that it is one show or set. I've boosted the volume on a few songs and added some bass to enable them to stand alongside the other recordings but that's all.

You can get details of who taped and how at www.archive.org and www.ryanadamsarchive.com where you'll find recordings of the the full shows (and many more besides).

This was my first TAB show, and it's pretty sweet, actually. We did Riverport>Alpine>DC if I remember right. Medeski definitely added a little something, as did whatever the heck it was that I ate.

anyway, from PT

edit - this is probably my favorite lot shirt, and still gets a lot of wear. Love Homer's shirt/skirt, lolz!

My first TAB show as well. Went in with no expectations...lot was virtually empty, venue not that full...and they blew the roof off. GREAT show.

Per request, here is a collection of murder ballads and other songs about killin'. I was surprised at how many I actually found in my collection, but I narrowed the scope down to more traditional sounding songs which meant I had to cut alot of good stuff like Steve Earle's "Billy Austin" & "The Devil's Right Hand", DBT's "Nine Bullets", "Decoration Day", & "Cottonseed", Old 97's "The Other Shoe", Johnny Cash's "Cocaine Blues" & "Sound of Laughter", Hendrix's "Hey Joe".....lots of good stuff, but I think what I came up with has a much more consistent flow.
I'm gonna give a brief description of each song Harry Smith style, so here goes:

1. Knoxville Girl by The Louvin Brothers
'Willy' (he seems to be the protagonist in alot of these songs) beats his 'Knoxville girl' to death with a stick then drags her by her hair and throws her into the Tennessee river.

2. Pretty Polly by Ralph Stanley & Patty Loveless
This is my favorite version of this song. 'Willy' lures 'Pretty Polly' into the woods and stabs her in the heart because she won't marry him, he then burys her in the grave he dug "the biggest part of last night".

3. Little Sadie by Doc Watson
You may know the more familiar "Cocaine Blues", this is the song it is derived from. Man kills 'Little Sadie' with a .44, he is then hunted down, arrested, and tried.

4. Little Glass of Wine by The Stanley Brothers
'Willy' wants to marry 'Molly', but she wants to wait a year. He then finds her dancing with another man and poisons her and himself.

5. Omie Wise by Doc Watson
True story of the murder of Naomi Wise by John Lewis in North Carolina circa 1808. John Lewis drowns Omie Wise whose body is found days later by 2 fisherman.

6. Pretty Daughter by The Bad Livers
A man who doesn't want his daughter to marry and leave him alone finds her in the woods with 'a boy from town' and kills him with a pick-axe.

7. Delia's Gone by Johnny Cash
An old traditional song that Johnny Cash brought to the mainstream. A man ties Delia to a chair in her parlor and shoots her for being low down and triflin'.

8. The Lawson Family Murder by Doc Watson
Probably the most twisted song in this collection. Charlie Lawson kills his wife and 6 children then shoots himself in the heart on a Christmas evening.

9. Caleb Meyer by Gillian Welch
My favorite song off this collection. Caleb Meyer attempts to rape Nellie Cane whose husband has went to town. He pins her down but she reaches the neck of the whiskey bottle he threw down and uses it to slit his throat and kill him.

10. Westfall by Okkervil River
This one is a contemporary murder ballad. Tells the story of a young man who goes over to his friend Colin Kincaid's house in Westfall where they meet up with 2 girls from Kenwood Christian and he ends up murdering one of them.

11. Country Death Song by Violent Femmes
A man kills his youngest daughter by throwing her in the well then hangs himself in the barn.

12. Polly Vaughn by The Dillards
A hunter accidentally shoots his true love mistaking her for a swan in the darkness.

13. Tom Dooley by Doc Watson
Probably the most famous murder ballad. Tom Dooley kills Laura Foster then burys her in a shallow grave on the hillside. Based on the real life murder of Laura Foster by Tom Dula.

14. John Hardy Was A Desperate Little Man by Anita Carter
This is an old Carter Family song. John Hardy kills a man on the West Virginia line, he is caught and hanged.

15. Henry Lee by Dick Justice
A woman kills Henry Lee with a pen knife and hides his body in a well because he loves another more than her.

16. Philadelphia Lawyer by Maddox Brothers & Rose
A cowboy kills the 'Philadelphia Lawyer' who lured his 'Hollywood Maid' away from him.

17. The Fate of Dewey Lee by The Carter Family
True story of the murder of Dewey Lee in Virginia circa 1931 who was killed by Joe Jenkins during a night of drinking for an unknown reason.

18. Otto Wood the Bandit by Doc Watson
Otto Wood gets in an argument with a pawnshop clerk and shoots him dead. He is then arrested, escapes, shot and arrested again, escapes and finally killed by two sheriffs in a southern town.

19. Stagger Lee by Taj Mahal
An old traditional blues song. Stagger Lee kills Billy during a game of craps.

20. Banks of the Ohio by Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, Ricky Skaggs & Allison Krauss
An old traditional song, some people think this is a retelling of the same murder sung about in "Pretty Polly". A man proposes marriage to a young woman on the banks of the ohio river, when she refuses he drowns her.

21. Frankie and Johnny by Merle Haggard
An old Jimmie Rodgers tune, but I like this Haggard version off his Rodgers tribute album. Frankie shoots Johnny 3 times with a .44 when she finds him making love to Nelly Bly.

22. Turn It On, Turn It On, Turn It On by Tom T. Hall
Johnny goes on a shooting spree in 1944 killing all the people who called him a coward for not being able to enlist during WWII.

23. Cedartown Georgia by Waylon Jennings
A man kills his wife with a .22 when he catches her cheating on him.

24. Blue Rock Montana by Willie Nelson
A man kills his wife and the man she was cheating on him with in a tavern in Blue Rock Montana.

What bitrate are these typically?

Whenever I up stuff (not credited to anyone else) I usually encode to V2

Usually stuff is at 192 or better when it comes from other sources

I've never really run into something I've discarded simply because it is "too mp3-ey"

anyway...

Santana shows

These should all be some kind of soundboard/broadcast quality.

Don't burn these to cd and trade them.

You can find specific info on my list: http://www.phishhook.com/lists/jankeefa ... =0#Santana

Last note - the 81 show is mislabeled in the files as 91.
